I also notice that Rattles' hat regains its canon red color when we see him again later in the episode.īest Wishes/Tardy Tumbler were both pretty enjoyable - Tardy Tumbler, in particular. As pointed out in the Hilarious Screenshots thread, all of the strange color scheme inconsistencies. Maria inexplicably wobbling back and forth while she's walking across the screen near the end as if she suffers from Parkinson's Disease. I have to wonder if this isn't some sort of subtle jab at government officials and international policy. Sue Ellen's international diplomat father working as a low-level carnie. This was probably the funniest of their schemes, since it's the sort of misconception that you'd expect a lot of little kids to have. trying to make Bud taller by stretching him out. I wonder if they put up money to help sponsor this episode. I'd really hoped that his "getting between them" would have gone much further, since he accentuates her personality so much better as a weak and passive kiddy-boyfriend than the always-overshadowing Bud. Molly with a speaking role, albeit a brief one, and James wandering out between Bud and D.W. Lucy's stylish and classy-hot mother getting serious cameo time in both episodes: Haney acting like a big kid on the spinning shoe ride (R.I.P. I found this one to be the better half of the two, not for any particularly deep or compelling reason, but more because of its many amusing little moments, cameos, and bizarre animation and color scheme errors. Oh, and in case anyone missed it (and is genuinely interested), it's Bud Tucker Compson. works best as a character when she's alone or antagonizing Arthur. I suppose this one wasn't nearly as boring as a lot of the earlier D.W./Bud episodes, but I still think D.W. Also, Jane sure looked great in that overcoat. Interesting how this one was followed by an episode featuring a ride called, "The Buzzard." Another observation was the way that Bud instinctively called David and Arthur, "sir." It always hits home when I see little references to their military upbringing like that. One possible subtle connection that did stick out was the parallel between the broken frog's popped-out eye and the murder victim's infamous "vulture eye" in the original story. Always nice to see another episode that pays tribute to classic literature a'la MacFrensky, Never Never Never, etc., though this one didn't seem nearly as deep in its point-for-point similarities. Most of us probably noticed the Telltale Heart homage. I know this has been thrown out there, but I'd be willing to bet that, were it not for Luigi's nearly two-year long campaign, this episode wouldn't exist.

Despite its title, this episode seemed to be almost entirely about Bud without his hat, and Bud's hat flying around causing trouble. DW and Bud chickened out in the end.ha, I did that when I was their age.

Anyway, regarding the central focus of the episode.man that teenager was a jerk. HANEY ON THE BUMPY BOOTS RIDE!!! And he spoke twice! The credits listed Walter Massey as his VA at the time which means the episode must have been recorded shortly before his death.oh, now that's just depressing. I was happy to see Emily and even JAMES! And Molly calling his name in the background, not to mention her many cameos ! Looks like she's still hanging around. It was refreshing to see other characters and not have DW and Bud eat up all the screentime. GOODNESS!ĭW and Bud's Higher Purpose wasn't as bad. The one good thing I can say about it was that KATE DIDN'T TALK. She definitely got what she deserved in the end! When DW gave her tearful apology at the end, I didn't feel the least bit sorry. If done correctly, an annoying DW is hilarious.but this is a good example of that concept going wrong. And, I felt bad for him when DW was placing all the blame on his shoulders. I'm not fond of Bud, but he was actually tolerable compared to her. For one thing, DW was bratty as hell, and it really got on my nerves. The Tattletale Frog I liked a little less than its counterpart. Today's episodes weren't as bad as I expected them to be.but still, I'd rather not sit through them again.
