Not to be mean or anything on purpose, but if you disregard the rules then toss it back in other tenant's faces by not being a dilligent dog owner, well. already gave him a ton of fleas and one round of worms, I wasn't going there again.īut if I followed the rules and someone who didn't was causing issues - not picking up, dogs making a huge continuous racket, or dogs off leash on the property continuously, I wouldn't have thought twice about mentioning it to management.

We had breed restrictions but no one cared - though I did "mention" the one that lived below us cuz she never wormed the 3 week old pup she got (dont ask) and it was putting Sammy's health at risk. I followed the rules and paid the fees, and then it really ticked me off that I was like the only one that did. I guess what I'm saying is I can understand how people can disregard the requirements, because they are so restrictive. In any case, I think what anybody does is their own business, and I frankly could care less as long as it doesn't bother me.Īround here, it is hard to find an apartment that allows dogs over 25-30 lbs, or more than one, so it makes it hard for people like me to find a suitable apartment. I don't know, but I always wondered how so many people got away with it.

There was someone a couple doors down that I always saw take their 2 big dogs out at night, so maybe they were just good at hiding their dogs, or maybe the managers looked the other way. The weight limit there was 25 lbs, and a limit of 1 pet per apartment, but I saw plenty of people with LARGE dogs that were obviously above the limit. I guess I didn't feel it was necessary to pay the required fees just to stay for a few more weeks. I was living in an apartment when I got my chi puppy, and I didn't report it because I was planning to move soon. To me there wasn't really any risk since the animals and I could just move back home until we found another place. I don't think the management ever really cared and I just never bothered to tell them since even if they did care I'd just move the animals to my mom's house 20mins away where I still had my stable with 8horses and my favorite cat. I ended up with 8 for awhile but lost some to a weird staph infection Kinda like the illness that causes strangles in horses. I did have 5 fish tanks, gerbils, degus, and far more guinea pigs than I told them at the beginning. The dog I grew up with was at my mom's house and I moved back home for 2months so I could get my puppy when she reached weaning age. However the managers said verbally that guinea pigs or 1 cat would be fine and then I just never reported the others. They used the same lease for 5 complexes and some didn't allow pets so the lease actually said no pets at all. The apartment I was in didn't have really set restrictions. I think the more realistic consequence would be losing the security deposit.
#APARTMENTS WITH NO PET WEIGHT LIMIT PLUS#
I'm not willing to push the limits THAT far!! The security and pet deposit is a lot to lose, and we really need a yard and a neighborhod (rather than a complex) for a dog anyway.ĮTA: Not following the rules is indeed grounds for eviction, however I feel a lot of places look the other way b/c why would they want to evict someone that's not really causing trouble? Then the lose out on rent, plus eviction takes at least a month and can involve legal battles (at least here, it's not easy to evict someone, even if they are the worst tenant ever). We are getting a dog on Friday and are moving out b/c of the dog. One of mine is not declawed (the others were done before I got them). Also, I think the papers said that cats have to be declawed, but they never asked about it. we got a third cat and I never reported her. As a perk, the manager said we only had to pay the deposit for a single cat. When we moved in, I said I had two cats and filled out a cat form.
